Staying Together - Gita Bhutani & Clare Baguley

The dreadful events in Manchester on Monday night will have had an impact on us all.  Some of us may have been directly affected, some of us may have been indirectly affected, some may be professionally involved and some of us may become involved professionally over the months.   It’s important to recognise the impact of something happening so close to home.   Many of us will know what helps in situations like this and many of us may well be involved in providing advice and support. 

Like many of you, we’ve been copied into a range of emails and postings where resources and support have been highlighted.   We’ve listed these at the bottom of this post in case they are of help. We expect there are many more and it may be helpful to share via our comments page. 

Much has already been said by people more eloquent and words can feel inadequate in the circumstances.   Our thoughts and wishes are for all those who have been affected.  So we’ll just leave you with some of the words from Tony Walsh (Longfella) at last night’s vigil in Albert Square.

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city
But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity
Because this a place where we stand strong together
With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes
Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones
Because Manchester gives us such strength from the fact
That this is the place. We should give something back.
