“The Five Year Forward View for Mental Health: Psychological Professions and the Transformation of Mental Health Care’”

Date: Thursday 10th November 2016
Time: 9:00am – 4:30pm
Venue: Bolton Whites Hotel (West Stand, Level 2, Platinum Suite), Macron Stadium, De Havilland Way, Bolton, Manchester BL6 6SF

The Five Year Forward View for Mental Health was published in February 2016 and sets out the start of a ten year journey for mental health services within the NHS. It places the experience of over 20,000 people with mental health problems at the heart of its narrative and proposes a set of recommendations that have now been incorporated into the mandates for National Health Service England (NHSE) & Health Education England (HEE) to achieve the ambition of parity of esteem between mental and physical health care.

The fourth annual conference of the North West Psychological Professions Network provides an opportunity for psychological professionals working in NHS commissioned services in the North West to hear about the vision set out in the Five Year Forward View alongside the joint NHSE and HEE implementation plan.

Programme Outline:

  • During the morning session we will hear from leaders in the field of mental health policy implementation and provide the opportunity for questions and discussion.
  • The afternoon session will focus on examples of leadership and innovation involving psychological professionals in the north west that have relevance to the Five Year Forward View.
  • We’ll then explore opportunities for taking forward further developments through the work of the North West PPN.
