We are delighted to share that our last training event (17/18th Sep) on Working with Nightmares and Dreams was a great success. This one seemed to be even more intense than the last one we ran on this topic.
The participants were so willing to dive into the experience and to try out the exercises that we had planned. We worked with ordinary dreams first to gain confidence in the method and then we changed the procedure slightly for working with nightmares so that we could avoid anybody being re-traumatised during the process. Working ‘on the hoof’ we also suggested to people who do not have dreams that the method could be used with any issue that may be troubling them and this proved to be very useful. We wish to thank all those who took part for making the experience so powerful. We have also recently run a series of training events in Latvia which were also very well received.
We continue to offer a series of 2 day workshops addressing different aspects of trauma recovery in Leeds:
1. On 15/16th October we would like to invite you to our most popular workshop on Introduction to Complex Trauma work (only a few places remain but you can also choose to join this workshop on 14/15th January 2017).We do recommend that you attend this two-day workshop as feedback from past participants has shown that this foundation weekend is very helpful for professionals to understand the effects of trauma on clients, to understand the effects on ourselves when working in such a difficult field and also to get equipped by creative and safe therapeutic tool. This workshop is suitable for any beginning practitioners working with trauma as it focuses on the first phase of trauma recovery where we need to take into consideration body responses/symptoms as it is the most suitable approach to create safety and emotional stability. Moreover, this workshop is also suitable for experienced professionals as they can expand their set of tools by enhancing creative techniques and get the possibility to learn very much needed self-care techniques to prevent secondary trauma impact.
This course offers a very gentle approach to avoid re-traumatisation. The focus will be on how to support trauma survivors who are at the beginning of their trauma recovery where the main goal is Stabilisation & Establishment of Safety. The course brings together work that has been done in various fields such as Neuroscience, Focusing-oriented therapy, Art therapy, Person centred therapy, Systemic Approach and others.
2. On 3rd and 4th December we will again be running our two-day workshop: Working with Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma (only a few places remain). The main focus will be on how to safely approach childhood trauma and support integration of self as a whole. We will introduce Focusing-Oriented therapy combined with the Phase-Oriented Approach to post-trauma treatment that will help us to support the recovery of childhood trauma. Adult survivors often cannot get body senses as their past memories are very painful physically and psychologically. Therefore, they ‘dissociate’ from their feelings and body experiences which is a protective process simply helping them to survive. This two-day workshop will be experiential and you will learn about effective Focusing-Oriented therapy techniques when working with trauma. These techniques will add an important link between the body's stored knowledge of the impacts of past difficult life situations and their impacts.
All of our workshops incorporate a self-care dimension and it is also worth saying that all of our workshops are experiential. This means that our participants learn through reflecting on the experiences they get from doing different exercises. It also means that we keep a balance between how to support your clients and yourselves.
These workshops will be run by experienced Trainers with extensive experience in psychotherapy and facilitating workshops here in the UK as well as around the world (Germany, Latvia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Canada, Iceland, Ireland, Netherlands, and Romania).
