A warm welcome is extended to anyone in the North West of England who would like information and support in relation to Huntington’s disease (HD). This exciting event will include an update on the latest research developments from Professor Hugh Rickards. ‘Drop in’ to speak to professionals from a range of different specialisms relevant to HD.

There will be informal facilitated round table discussions throughout the day on topics such as how to participate in research locally, what is involved in having a predictive test and talking to children about HD.

There will be stalls providing information on the following:

  • HD Research in Manchester
  • Genetic counselling
  • Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis
  • Speech and Language Therapy/Dietician
  • Legal advice
  • Citizens Advice bureau (or ‘Advice on Benefits’)

The hope is that this open day will allow HD families to come together and find out about what services are available within the North West of England and to ask questions about accessing these services. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
