Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust
Older Adult Psychology Services
This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist to help establish a new inpatient psychology service for later life. You will be joining a well developed citywide psychological service, which has an excellent clinical and academic reputation. The older adults’ service already employs six Clinical Psychologists and one Assistant Psychologist.
You will be providing a clinical psychology service to two later life inpatient wards in the South and North of Manchester working closely with inpatient teams to maintain the highest possible standards of care and treatment.
The successful candidate will have an interest and enthusiasm for working with older people and will provide specialist assessment and therapy for people with a range of complex emotional disorders and for people with dementia admitted to inpatient units. There are excellent opportunities within the service to become involved with service developments and with audit and research projects. The service has close links with the Manchester, Lancaster and Liverpool Doctorate Training Programmes.
We will consider applications from newly qualified psychologists who can demonstrate relevant experience and interest. If a newly qualified psychologist is appointed they will commence on Band 7 in the expectation of their being able to fulfil the requirements of the substantive Band 8a post within 12 to 24 months. We can offer flexible working and job share applications will be considered.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Catherine Cross, Lead for Later Life Psychology Services on 0161 291 6971.
