New Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) workforce census 2020 released

Health Education England are pleased to announce the Adult IAPT Workforce Census 2020is now available to be shared widely with IAPT leads and networks.

Last year we commissioned the NHS Benchmarking Network to conduct a workforce census of the Adult IAPT workforce across England as of 31 March 2020. It covers NHS commissioned IAPT services delivered by NHS and non-NHS service providers. The census also provides a high-level overview of the adult IAPT workforce in 2020 across England.

The census was published later than anticipated because we wanted to ensure the workforce data required was available. We hope to share the 2021 IAPT workforce census which is currently in progress early in 2022.

This work will support us to address the NHS Long Term Plan ambition to increase the access for people with anxiety disorders or depression to talking therapies through IAPT.
