Psychological Practitioners in your PCN
(Trainee) Associate Psychological Practitioners (TAPPs)
Wednesday 29th September 2021 12-1pm
Virtual Event- MS Teams Webinar (link in email)
It is well known that the demand due to poor mental health is increasing and this is putting pressure on general practice. Associate Psychological Practitioners (APPs) is a new role created to help train psychology graduates to band 5 level to help meet the growing need for mental health care.
In 2021, in its pilot year, 24 Trainee APPs (TAPPs) were deployed across PCNs in Lancashire and South Cumbria. In this time we have learnt a lot and with next year’s cohort due to start in March 2022, we wanted to put on a webinar to help people understand how (T)APPs work in PCN settings and share our lessons learnt.
We have funding agreed for 17 TAPPs to be placed in Lancashire and South Cumbria PCN settings and we are now looking for expressions of interest for those who would wish to host a TAPP for 1 year.
This hour long webinar is open to all interested parties to answer any questions you may have about the process.
We think it would be informative for any PCN staff, including PCN managers, practice managers, clinical directors, GPs, nurses and allied healthcare colleagues.
Please find the MS teams link below.
The session will be chaired by Dr Mark Roy (Course Director, UCLan) and Dr Miranda Budd (Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical lead for PCN TAPPs). The session will also be attended by Lauren Butler (Chair for Lancashire & South Cumbria Training Hub and Head of Training, Education and workforce Development, Morecambe Bay Primary Care Collaborative).
