Preventing Suicide, Saving Lives

“Over 200 suicide deaths per year now occur in patients under mental health crisis teams, three times as many as in-patients, according to a report by The University of Manchester’s National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness (NCISH), commissioned by HQIP as part of the Clinical Outcome Review Programmes.

Consultant Perinatal Psychiatry Bursary Scheme- requesting HEE local support for applications by 16 December 2016

The Royal College of Psychiatry have now launched the consultant perinatal psychiatry bursary scheme, and applications for 10 places are invited from mental health trusts to meet the deadline of 16 December 2016. Regional mental health trusts and commissioners are asked to support this scheme and work together to identify suitable candidates.

2017/18 CYP MH Education & Training Fund - Vulnerable Group (formely Innovation Fund)

Last year, DH provided HEE with an Innovation Fund for organisations to implement workforce transformation projects that will improve mental health in Children and Young People. Following a submission and review process, £3.2m was allocated in grants to 33 organisations.

The Department of Health and Health Education England are repeating the process for 2017/18 and £1-2m from DH will be made available to carry out this project.

The application process is to restart for all funded Master’s, CPPD, PG Diploma and PG Certificate places for courses starting in early 2017

The Master’s in Genomic Medicine has proved particularly popular so far this year with exceptional numbers of funding applications received this summer.
